Creating Connections with Community Builders
The Timebank group in Efford welcome everyone to attend and enjoy the knowledge and interests people bring with them. One such connection that has been made is with Emily Richards, Community Builder for Efford and Estover. Emily joins the group in Efford from time to time to share any news are events that are coming up and may well be of interest. She has also been given a few tips on her knitting!
During one of her latest visits she mentioned wanting to go to Manor Court Residential Home and meet with residents there. This was something that the group have been looking into themselves, the success of their visits to St Pauls had them wanting more.
Emily was happy to get the ball rolling as she had the contact details for the manager, and after a few emails, the group were ready to be welcomed into the building!
It was understood that going into a residential home would require a different approach to other venues we have been to and so it was decided that they could go in and use their ’Tea Room’ to host a regular Timebank Social for the group.
This would provide an opportunity for the residents to come in and join them if they wished to every 8-10 weeks. This would mean the room would get used and, most importantly, the residents have an opportunity to engage and enjoy the groups company. They are getting dates in the diary and are already looking forward to their next visit.
